Teenage advisory Board (TAB)
Earn volunteer hours, meet creative peers, and contribute to the amazing happenings ay Parnell Memorial Library! The Parnell Teenage Advisory Board (TAB) consists of students between grades 7-12 who meet monthly at the library to brainstorm programs, create book displays and bulletins, and discuss improvements to our Young Adult Services.
Students are required to attend an interest meeting in order to declare their interest and fill-out a TAB application. Our librarians will conduct interviews with our applicants in order to choose our next TAB members. Contracts for TAB lasts for one year and each TAB member will be responsible for 52 volunteer hours per year. Our interest meetings happen each Spring.
Homeschool Hub
Homeschool Hub is a place to connect with other homeschoolers and enrich your curriculum. While you do not need to be a library member to participate it is encouraged that you sign up for a library card with Parnell Memorial Library to give you full access to the many free materials and resources available to you.
Homeschool Hub meets each Friday from 11:30am-12:30pm during the school year, with breaks for our Summer Reading Program and holidays. Please inquire at the circulation desk for our monthly Homeschool Hub calendar and to register for our email/text reminders.
1000 Books before kindergarten
In partnership with The 1000 Books Foundation we provide tracking sheets and certificates for young readers starting their literacy journey. The objectives of this program are to promote reading to newborn, infants and toddlers and to encourage parent and child bonding through reading. This is a self-led program using our 1000 Books Tracking kit. You can receive your kit for free at the circulation desk.
Parents can count any stories read during story-times, at home, in the library, or anywhere else their children read or are read to. Re-reads count as well! For more information about The 1000 Books Foundation visit their website here.
Kid Librarian
Our Kid Librarian Program includes passionate young patrons between 8 to12-years-old in volunteering with our library. Our Kid Librarians will be taught how to shelve books in our children’s section, how to shelf read, and be responsible for creating a book display with librarian help.
Applicants will need to fill out a Kid Librarian Application and receive parent/guardian permission. The applications go into a ballot box that is pulled from every two weeks to choose the next kid librarian. This is considered a five hour commitment, but hours do not need to be consecutive. Pick up your application at the circulation desk to be considered.
Pokémon Club

Pokémon Club meets each Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm, with breaks for holidays. There is no registration required.
